Yes, you figured it out but it wasn't a testament to your own abilities or the fact that you're capable. In fact, it was a testament to very opposite of that, your ineptitude.

It is not enough to just 'figure it out' eventually. Most can do that given enough time. How, and when you figure it out exposes your own flaws, or the lack of them thereof and that's a good thing

It is the exposure of these weaknesses, however small, large or embarrassing they may be that opens up avenues of improvements. What you do with that information is up to you however. Either way, do not for a moment use completion as a metric for competence
